VERNON M. SEXSON, 84 of Grant, passed away November 16, 2016 of complications following cardiac arrhythmia.
Vernon was born August 10, 1932 at St. Francis, Kansas, the youngest of 5 children, to Milton and Maude (Bowen) Sexson. He attended country school in the St. Francis area.
Vernon had two children, Connie Kay and Randy Ray, from his first marriage. Vernon worked in the oil fields for a few years before joining the Morgan County Road and Bridge Department, eventually becoming the Roads Supervisor. Vernon retired in 1995 following a 35 year career. He moved to Grant, Nebraska In 2004, where he enjoyed the small town life that it provided.
Vernon was a proud 25-year member of the Elks Club in Ft. Morgan. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapshooting and just being outdoors.
Vernon was preceded in death by his son, Randy; his brothers, Clyde, Clifford and Dale Sexson; sister, Berdena Shull and infant sister, Stella Mae Sexson.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Steve Cary of Ft. Collins, CO; Randy's daughters Chandra, of Gilbert, AZ and Katie, of Loveland, CO; sister, Gertrude Smith of Vernal, UT; sisters-in-law, Yvonne Sexson of Grant and Vesta Sexson of Ft. Morgan, CO; 3 great grandchildren along with many nieces, nephews and friends.
Memorials are suggested to Saint Jude's Children's Hospital in Vernon's memory. Condolences may be shared at bullocklongfuneralhome.com, where the service will be streamed live for those unable to attend.
Services will be on Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at 2pm at the Bullock-Long Funeral Home in Grant with John Long officiating. Burial will be in the Grant Fairview Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Monday, from 4pm until 7pm at the Bullock-Long Funeral Home in Grant.
