Robyn Maywood Riggs, a beloved figure in the Grant community, passed away peacefully on Halloween, October 31, 2024, at the age of 74.
Born on August 14, 1950, in Denver, Colorado, to Richard Nelson Denney and Wilma Jean Rogers. Her journey began in the historic mining town of Leadville, Colorado, where she absorbed the rugged beauty of the Rocky Mountains. Later, she found herself drawn to the tranquil plains of Perkins County, Nebraska.
In the late 1990s, Robyn and her significant other, James K. Legg Jr., moved to Grant, building a life together and forming many meaningful friendships, genuinely becoming part of the Grant community.
The couple first met on Labor Day in Tampa, Florida, a moment that began their journey together and marked the start of many shared memories. Sadly, James passed away in March 2024.
Robyn was a woman of many talents and passions. She was a dedicated worker, a caring friend, and a loving mother and grandmother. Her time at Hatch's Super Foods was marked by her warm smile and friendly demeanor. She also found joy in her work as a dispatcher for the Perkins County Sheriff's Office.
Robyn was a compassionate soul with a deep love for animals. She often opened her heart and home to stray pets, providing them with love and care. Additionally, Robyn was an adventurous spirit who enjoyed exploring new places. She frequently embarked on RV trips with her sister, always eager for the next adventure.
Robyn is survived by her children: Michael Riggs (Chasity) of Portsmouth, Virginia; Michelle Rosemarie Riggs of Grant; and Marc Denney of Denver, Colorado. She is also survived by five great grandchildren, eight grandchildren, and her siblings: Roger Scott Denney, Randy Denney (Ruth), Radford Denney, Rhonda Denney (Raymond Fallen), and Royce Denney-White; and numerous friends who will forever cherish her memory.
