Rick farmed in Nebraska for a few years until the early 1990's when he came to Minnesota and on October 2, 1993 he married Bonnie Kopischke at the Trinity Lutheran Church of Janesville. Together they raised their two children in North Morristown.

Rick was active and proud to be with the North Morristown 4th of July Celebration, having worked in the hamburger stand for over 20 years. He also spent many years mowing lawn and tending to the Concordia Cemetery of North Morristown.

His hobbies were anything to do with the Nebraska Corn Huskers! Rick was a dedicated and loud fan! He enjoyed the outdoors, chopping wood and camping with the family. Recently, while in Madison lake, he was known for making some of the best cinnamon rolls for numerous events.
