Indian Peace Prayer
Oh Great Spirit, who dwells in the sky, lead us to the path of peace and understanding. Let all of us live together as brothers and sisters. Our lives are so short here, walking upon mother earth's surface. Let our eyes be opened to all the blessings you have given us. Please hear our prayers, oh Great Spirit.
Don't look for me in the ashes you will hold. Don't look for me in the cemetery, look up. I will be in the sunrise and sunset of each day. I will be in the song of the birds. I will be in the tree as the wind softly moves it's branches. I will be in the fish you catch, and the ones you don't. I will be in the deer running free. I will be in the goose that flies without a care. I will be in the fox whose wisdom is unique. I will be in the turkey that gobbles. I will be in the laughter of a child. I will be in the drops of rain. I will be in the love of families. I will be amongst friends as they gather. So, when you look for me, look up, for I have gone home.
Fisherman's Prayer
I pray that I may live to fish, until my dying day
And when it comes to my last cast, I then do humbly pray
When in the Lord's great landing net, I'm peacefully asleep
I pray that in his mercy, I be big enough to keep!
