MARION E. OELLERMANN, 90, of Grant, passed away March 17, 2018, at St. Elizabeth Regional Medical Center in Lincoln.
Marion was born January 3, 1928, the oldest of three daughters born to Herbert and Esther (Mosel) Boehmer. Marion was baptized at the farm home northwest of Grant as an infant and was confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in rural Ogallala. She attended Trinity Lutheran Parochial School and later, Perkins County High School, graduating with the class of 1946. She taught elementary school in rural Perkins County for two years.
On May 30, 1948, she was united in marriage to Ervin C. Oellermann and to this union four children were born, Elaine, Yvonne, Janet, and Charles. The couple made their home on a farm northwest of Grant. Marion focused her efforts on raising her family and serving the church. She was a lifetime member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where she was organist, Sunday School teacher, member of LWML, and quilting group. She also enjoyed gardening, needlework, and being Erv's "right-hand man." She mowed the farm until she was 89.
In addition to her parents and sister, Lois Spicer, Marion was preceded in death by her husband, Ervin, in 2006, and a grandson, Matthew Redfern, in 1979.
Survivors include her four children, Elaine Redfern and her husband, Ike of Holdrege, Yvonne Knoepfel and her husband, Larry of South St. Paul, MN, Janet Jacobsen and her husband, Steve of Omaha, and Charles Oellermann and his wife, Mary of Columbus, OH; nine grandchildren, Sara (Eric) Henning, Phil (Courtney) Redfern, Justin (Elisa) Knoepfel, Kyle (Rachel) Knoepfel, Leah (Chris) Clark, Andy (Heather) Jacobsen, Dave Jacobsen, Betsy Oellermann, Peter Oellermann; fifteen great-grandchildren; sister, Norma Jean Heffington of Northglenn, CO; along with many other relatives and friends.
A memorial has been established in Marion's memory for later designation. Condolences may be shared at bullocklongfuneralhome.com, where the service will be streamed live for those unable to attend.
A celebration of Marion's life will be held on Wednesday, March 21, 2018, at 10:30 a.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Ogallala with Pastor Wayne Pick officiating. Burial will be in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, from 4 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at the Bullock-Long Funeral Home in Grant, with family receiving friends from 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m.
