Margy Hoaglen

June 7, 1937 — January 13, 2019

MARGY ANN HOAGLEN, 81 of Grant, passed away Sunday, January 13, 2019, at Golden Ours Convalescent Home in Grant, Nebraska.

Margy was born June 7, 1937, at Vona, Colorado to Elmer Miles and Gwendolene Margaret (Eaton) Kerl, and was their only child. She attended school at Vona until her senior year, when the family moved to Wray, Colorado. Margy graduated with the class of 1955.

Margy met Milford Dean Hoaglen while in school at Wray, and the two would eventually marry on October 2, 1955, in Wray, Colorado. Margy joined Milford who was already living in Grant, working for Bullock Chevrolet as an auto body repairman from 1954 to 1957 and Margy worked at an insurance office. In 1963 they were blessed with their only child, Dana Kay. Milford opened an auto body repair shop in 1957 and operated that business for nearly 20 years, that would later expand into a welding and fabrication business known as M & M Manufacturing Inc. Margy handled all of the paperwork and payroll for the business, which would evolve further to include hay processing equipment and Milford's patented hauling and hitch systems. They were in business for 52 years.

Margy's parents eventually moved back to Vona, to be closer to a large number of their bothers and sisters, and the Hoaglen's made frequent trips to spend holidays with the large family group. Family was of great importance in her life; from time spent in Vona, to the many outings at Enders Lake with Milford's family, Helen and Bud Jones and their four daughters.

Margy's twin grandchildren were the apple of her eye and she loved hearing about everything they did, whether it was all of the firsts of infancy, to the mischievous antics of two toddlers on the move, to their school experiences, sports triumphs and challenges, travel adventures and their daily living experiences, she wanted to know about it all. She supported them and cheered them on in everything they did and she was their biggest fan in life.

Margy also had a great love of music and loved playing piano, saxophone, and singing both in high school and as an adult. In her younger years, Margy sang quite often with her cousin for various occasions. She continued performing into adulthood with her involvement in a community band.

Margy also enjoyed gardening. Her hobby blossomed into quite a passion over the years, as her yard would come to include a pond and waterfall, in addition to the many plants, flowers, and trees that she planted.

Margy was preceded in death by her husband, Milford and her parents.

Survivors include her daughter, Dana Smith of Loveland, CO; twin grandchildren, Hope and Austin Smith of Fort Collins, CO; aunt, Helen Jones of Denver, CO; along with several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

A memorial has been established in her memory for later designation. Condolences can be shared at bullocklongfuneralhome.com, where the service will be streamed live and available for future viewing.
