Lynn Schumacher

April 29, 1941 — July 7, 2015

Lynn Schumacher, 74 of Grant, passed away July 7, 2015 at the Grant Hospital.

Lynn was born April 29th, 1941 in Danville, Illinois to Clarence and Veda (Morrison) Vollman. She graduated from Danville High School. Lynn's family eventually moved to Hawaii, where Lynn attended the University of Hawaii.

Lynn met her future husband, Ken Schumacher, on a blind date while he was serving in the Navy. The couple later married on July 31, 1961 at the First Congregational Church in Honolulu, Hawaii. In December of 1961, they moved to Grant following Ken's discharge from the Navy. Lynn had worked at First Federal Lincoln as well as the Grant Tribune Sentinel.

Lynn was an avid reader, often reading 3-4 books per week. She also enjoyed collecting cookbooks, cooking and music. Above all, she cherished spending time with her family.

Lynn was a member of the First Congregational Church where she was church organist for many years and was active in the Priscilla's Circle, PEO, and was a past Titus Women for MOPS. She served on both the Hastings Memorial Library Foundation and Perkins County Election Board, and was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Lynn was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband, Ken Schumacher of Grant; three children, Chuck (Crissy) Schumacher of Parker, CO, Chris (Steve) Loeffler of Grant, and Mike (Jill) Schumacher of Omaha; nine grandchildren, Andrea, Grant & Rebekah Schumacher; Kevin (Jesse) & Craig (Sarah, fiancé) Loeffler; & Luke, James, Henry & Lillie Schumacher; along with one great grandchild, Ethan Loeffler.

Visitation will be on Thursday, July 9, 2015 from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM at Bullock-Long Funeral Home.

Services will be held on Friday, July 10, 2015 at 10:30 AM at the Grant First Congregational Church with Denise Johnson officiating. Burial will be in the Grant Fairview Cemetery.
