Linnea Anna Gibson

Anna "Linnea" Gibson, 102, of Wallace, Nebraska, passed away peacefully on January 25, 2025. Linnea was born on November 6, 1922, to Carl and Minnie Hawkinson in Funk, Nebraska. She grew up in a loving family and graduated from Chase County High School in Imperial, Nebraska, in 1940.

On June 14, 1941, Linnea married the love of her life, Warren Gibson, in Torrington, Wyoming. Shortly after their marriage, the couple moved to a farm south of Wallace, Nebraska, where they raised registered Hereford cattle and worked the land together. Linnea's life was defined by her devotion to her family and her community.

She was an exceptional cook, loved to sew, and a dedicated quilter. Linnea was known for her hospitality; visitors to her home were always greeted with warm cookies or homemade goodies, a testament to her generous and caring spirit.

Linnea was a faithful member of the Faith Lutheran Church in Wallace, where her presence and contributions were cherished by the congregation.

She was preceded in death by her husband Warren, her sisters Evangeline, Elvera, Corrine, Ione, Dorothy and Darlene, and a daughter-in-law Karen Gibson.

Linnea is survived by her two children, Larry Gibson and Mary (Kenneth) Marquardt; five grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and sixteen great-great-grandchildren.

Her legacy of love, kindness, and faith will live on through her family and all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. MT, on Friday, February 7, 2025, at Zion Lutheran Church, Grant, NE, with Pastor Michael Heckmann officiating. Interment will follow in the Morningview Cemetery at Wallace. After the interment, a reception will be held at the Wallace Methodist Church.
