KEVIN J. TICKLE, 63 of Grant, passed away Wednesday, December 5, 2018, at Golden Ours Convalescent Home in Grant.
Kevin was born November 27, 1955, at Grant, Nebraska to Ralph and Helen Tickle. He attended school in Grant before finishing his education in Ogallala at ESU 16.
Kevin eventually began work as part of the custodial staff at the Perkins County Hospital, which he did for nearly 30 years. Despite struggling in some areas of development, Kevin was astonishingly gifted in others. For instance, Kevin had an impressively expansive memory. Once Kevin met someone, he never forgot their name, even if they'd only met in passing. If the license plate database for Perkins County ever crashed, Kevin could have filled in, as he had everybody's plate number, make, and model memorized.
Kevin loved animals and had a warm and welcoming demeanor. In fact, Kevin Tickle was largely considered to be the unofficial greeter at the Westview Retirement Community, once he began making his home there. He could predictably be found at certain parts of the day, sitting outside drinking his usual glass of tea, surveying the sights and greeting the visitors. He served a similar role at the Grant Lions Club, where he held an office for 5 years and was a perpetual friendly face. Kevin's presence in life was a calm and quiet one, but a great many people will miss him.
Kevin was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Carol Herne.
Survivors include his sisters, Marcia Tickle Spratt of Grant, Charlene (Donald) Lininger of Holyoke; brother, Galen (Judy) Tickle of Grant; 7 nieces and nephews; along with many other relatives and friends.
A memorial has been established in his memory for later designation by the family. Condolences may be shared at bullocklongfuneralhome.com, where the service will be streamed live for those unable to attend.
Funeral services will be Monday, December 10, 2018, at 10:30 AM at Grant United Methodist Church with Rev. Lorri Kentner officiating. Burial will be in the Grant Fairview Cemetery.
Visitation will be Sunday, December 9th from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Bullock-Long Funeral Home in Grant.
