KARON PANKONIN, 77, of Grant, went to be with the Lord on March 25, 2022.
Karon was born December 11, 1944, in Jackson, MS, as the first of four children born to Leonard and Mae Rowan of Wallace. Karon attended Wallace Public School and graduated in 1963. Karon went on to get her LPN Nursing License from St. Mary's Nursing College in Omaha in May of 1965.
On July 25, 1965, Karon married Tom Pankonin at the Methodist Church in Wallace. While Tom served in the Air Force, Karon held multiple nursing positions in Spokane WA, Champagne, IL, and Phoenix AZ. Karon returned to Grant to work at the Perkins County Hospital while Tom served in Vietnam. She then followed Tom to Colorado Springs, where she continued nursing. In 1970 Tom and Karon returned to Grant, and their union was blessed with two daughters, Tina and Jayme. Karon retired from nursing in 1980.
Karon is survived by her husband of 57 years, Tom of Grant; two daughters Tina (Dan) Klingsporn of Mitchell, Jayme (Michael) Klocke of Salina; two brothers, Ronnie Rowan of Grand Island, Bill Rowan of Cody, WY, three grandsons, Cole Whalen, Curtis Frisbie, Bo Klingsporn, and four granddaughters, Callie Cameron, Abigail Frisbie, Samantha Klocke, and Kyli Klingsporn; two great-grandsons, Kenison and Coen Frisbie.

Memorial services will be held Wednesday, March 30, 2022, at 10:30 am at the Trinity Lutheran Church North of Grant, with Pastor Jon Dickmander officiating. Inurnment will be in the Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery.
