Jody Krajewski

February 8, 1953 — February 21, 2021

JOYCE "JODY" KAY KRAJEWSKI, 68, of Grant, NE, passed away Sunday, February 21, 2021, at Perkins County Health Services in Grant.

Jody was born on February 8, 1953, in Crawford, NE, to Eldon and Donna "Dolly" (Holtz) Rising. She graduated from Sioux County High School in Harrison with the Class of 1971. She continued her education at the University of Nebraska Lincoln where she met Joseph Krajewski. On July 10, 1973, she and Joe were united in marriage at Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church in Grant, NE. Joe and Jody returned to the Krajewski family farm near Brandon, NE, where their union was blessed with five children: Amy, Ranae, Brad, Laura, and Angela.

Jody was a devoted and faithful member of Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church in Grant, where she was a mainstay in the Altar Society. She cleaned many houses in the Grant community and was active in the Krajewski farm operation. She also raised and dressed chickens in what little free time she had. Jody was a devoted mother who supported her five children in their many varied activities. She never missed a sporting event or 4-H activity and was a constant and unwavering source of support and encouragement for her children as they pursued their dreams.

Jody welcomed her first grandchild in 2000, and this began a new chapter of her life story. Jody was the best grandma a child could ask for! She and Joe welcomed sleepovers at the farm and were always more than willing to watch the "littles" when her children had to travel or just needed a night away. She passed on countless life lessons to her family that will no doubt be her lasting legacy. She shined in the kitchen, placing just as much love and effort into a Sunday meal as a Thanksgiving or Christmas Feast. She was never one who enjoyed her picture taken, but her smile was infectious when surrounded by family or when she was celebrating an accomplishment by one of her children or grandchildren. Over the years Jody spent countless hours caring for her home, flowers, and plants and was happy to know she spent many of her final days on the farm. Her quiet and unwavering faith was evident in all of her actions. Jody's kindness and love for others will live on through her family.

Jody was preceded in death by her parents; son-in-law, Brysen Kollars; granddaughter, Ella Rose Swanson; siblings, Allan Rising, Pam Rising, and Kendy Rising; and brothers-in-law, Dwight Beckman and Edwin Krajewski.

Those left to carry on her legacy include her husband, Joe of Grant; children: Amy (Clint) Elwood of Sutherland, NE, Ranae Krajewski of Lacey, WA, Brad (Jessica) Krajewski of Sutherland, NE, Laura (Aaron) Sasges of South Sioux City, NE, and Angela (Michal) Swanson of McCook, NE; nine grandchildren: Makenzie and Dawson Kollars, Brooklyn and Chance Elwood, Evan, Melanie, and Morgan Krajewski, and Tenley and Raegan Swanson; sisters: Cathy Publow of Scottsbluff, NE, and Shelly (Doug) Hedeen of Falcon Heights, MN; brother: Randy (Kristie) Rising of Torrington, WY; sisters-in-law: Brenda Rising of Torrington, WY, LaVonna Krajewski of Grant, NE, Mary (Andy) Krajewski of Lexington, NE, Phyllis (Larry) Holscher of Ogallala, NE, Joyce Beckman of Geneva, NE, Ruth (Lonnie) Saltz of Raymond, NE, and Jeri Krajewski-Hobbs of Sacramento, CA; along with numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and countless friends.
