Jayne L. Witzki

JAYNE L. WITZKI, 68, of Venango, NE, passed away Tuesday, November 8, 2022, at Regent Park Nursing Home in Holyoke, CO.

Jayne was born on February 8, 1954, to Marvin and Marcella (Ogden) Witzki in Holyoke, Colorado. She graduated from Venango High School with the class of 1972.

Jayne had worked at the elevator in Venango for some years. She met John Potts, and the two were married in 1978. Their union was blessed with two children, Jared and Jennifer.

Following a divorce, Jayne went to nursing school and became an LPN. She subsequently moved to Lexington, where she worked at the Plum Creek Nursing Home for nearly ten years. She would later return to Venango to help her dad on the farm and work at Indian Hills Manor in Ogallala. Before her nursing career ended, Jayne worked at Golden Ours Convalescent Home in Grant and, most recently, at Regent Park in Holyoke, CO.

Jayne poured her heart into the care she gave to others. She loved and found great joy and pride in her grandchildren. She also had a deep love and care for animals, including her horses, dogs, cats, and even a couple of goats. Jayne was intensely private, but those privileged to have known her well could attest to her giving heart.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

Jayne is survived by her children, Jared (Melissa) Potts of Grant; Jennifer (Joe) Tatum of Grant; grandchildren, Josey, Eli, Kenna, Rally, Riggin, and Ryeker; brother, Kim (Merry) Witzki of Gering; uncles, Gary Ogden of Omaha, LaVern Ogden (Janet Schilling) of Venango; along with other relatives and friends.

A memorial has been established in Jayne's memory for later designation by her family. Condolences may be shared at bullocklongfuneralhome.com, where the service will be streamed live.

Memorial services will be held on Friday, November 18, 2022, at 10:30 am at the Grant Evangelical Free Church with Pastor Russ Gaar officiating. No inurnment is planned at this time.
