JANICE BECK, 74 of Holyoke, passed away Tuesday, September 22, 2020, at her home in Holyoke.
Janice was born August 18, 1946, at Imperial, Nebraska, to Edward and Marjorie (Stucker) Gartner. She graduated from Elsie High School with the class of 1964.
On December 22, 1968, Janice married Garen Beck at the Elsie Methodist Church. Janice made her home in Sterling, Colorado, for a few years while Garen served in the military. Following his discharge, the couple moved South of Grainton before moving South of Wallace in 1972. They eventually made their home in Holyoke, where they lived the rest of their married lives.
Janice worked at the Logan County Hospital in the kitchen for eight years. She then owned and operated Beck's Bargain Barn in Holyoke.
Janice's true passion was for children. She was a licensed daycare provider for nearly forty years and provided foster care for many of those years concurrently.
Janice loved cooking, reading, and watching television. She had a passion for caring for children and did so with her whole heart.
Janice was preceded in death by her husband, Garen; parents; stepfather, Vern Bruce; brother, Gary Gartner, parents-in-law, Elmer and Mildred Beck, and Sharon and Ellis Gibbs.
Janice is survived by her children, Derek Beck of Ft. Collins, Shaun and his wife, Justina Beck of Holyoke, CO, and Phillip and his wife, Nicole Beck of Harrisburg, NE, Tami and her husband, Ed Glennemeier and Julie and her husband Tom Andersen, all of Holyoke; a foster daughter Janice considered very special-Nicole Long of Ogallala. 6 grandchildren, Kanyon and Tobin Moore, Braxton Beck, Dustin Andersen, Riley Beck, and Brittany Hoilien; 7 great-grandchildren; and soon to be grandson, Benson Moore. Survivors also include her siblings, Chuck Gartner of Chadron, Michel Gartner of Grant, Audrey (Danny) Martin of Grant, and Bill (Ellen) Crawford of Crawford; step-brother, Gary Bruce of Montana; as well as several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
A memorial has been established in Janice's memory for later designation. Condolences may be shared at bullocklongfuneralhome.com.
Services will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2020, at 10:30 a.m. MT at the Grant United Methodist Church with Rev. Gary Rahe officiating. Interment will be in the Wallace Morning View Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Friday, from 1 p.m. until 6 p.m. at the Bullock-Long Funeral Home in Grant.
