James Legg

August 11, 1949 — March 13, 2024

James Kellis Legg Jr., of Grant, passed away on March 13, 2024, at his home.

James (JK) was born August 11, 1949, in Charleston, West Virginia, to James W. and Charlotte W. (Valentine) Legg Sr. After high school, he entered the US Marines in 1969.

Following his discharge in 1972, James spent time in Ohio, where he worked in a cardboard plant for nearly twenty years. He eventually met the love of his life, Robyn Denney, one Labor Day in Tampa, FL and the rest was history. The couple formed a family and made a life together. They moved to Grant in the late 90s, where they made many wonderful friends.

James loved to fish and enjoyed sharing the pastime with his kids. He was a NASCAR fan, a jokester, a baseball fan, and a hard worker. James had a way of brightening people's days, and laughter seemed to come along wherever he went.

James was preceded in death by his parents and a nephew, Bobby Russell.

Survivors include his companion, Robyn of Grant; children, Michael (Chasity) Riggs of Portsmouth, VA, Michelle Riggs of Grant, and Marc Denney of Denver, CO; eight grandchildren; a brother, Roger (Susan) Legg of South Bloomfield, Ohio; sister Carol Russell of Ripley, West Virginia, Cobina (George) Fletcher of Amanda, Ohio, along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the VA, American Cancer Society, or the donor's choice are suggested in memory of James. Condolences may be shared at bullocklongfuneralhome.com.

Graveside services will be held at the Hitler-Ludwig Cemetery in Ohio at a date and time to be announced.

Bullock-Long Funeral Home of Grant is assisting the family.
