Hope Minyard, age 92 of Sutherland, passed away Saturday, September 26, 2015 at the Sutherland Care Center.
Hope was born November 23, 1922 at Weatherford, Oklahoma to William and Opal (Brown) Mericle. Hope graduated from Weatherford High School.
On September 16, 1940, she married James "Jim" Minyard at Clinton, Oklahoma. While Jim served in WWII, Hope worked as a welder in the shipyards on the east coast. Following Jim's discharge from the Navy, the couple moved to Kansas City, and later, Greeley, Colorado. They would retire in 1973, and subsequently moved to Crawford, Nebraska. Hope and Jim enjoyed spending time in the outdoors, camping and hiking. They also spent a great deal of time collecting and refurbishing furniture and antiques. While living in Crawford, Hope and Jim enjoyed entertaining people with their music at such venues as Ft. Robinson and the Nebraska State Fair. In 2013, the couple moved to the Sutherland Care Center to be closer to family.
Hope was preceded in death by her husband Jim in 2013; daughter, Sherry Lynne Minyard-Wolf; brother, Leo Mericle and brother-in-law, Denzle Minyard.
Survivors include her son, Denzle "Denny" Minyard of Palestine, TX; 6 grandchildren, Mickey Phillips, Marilyn Wolf Miller, Robert and Brian Minyard, Colin Donoghue, Kelly Donoghue Musil and 11 great grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, October 9, 2015 at 11:00 AM CT at the Ft. McPherson National Cemetery with John Long officiating.
