HELEN A. MAY, 87 of Grant, passed away peacefully to be with the Lord on August 19, 2017, at Golden Ours Convalescent Home in Grant.
Helen was born April 17, 1930, at Omaha, Nebraska as the 3rd of 6 children to Joseph and Ruby (Mason) Pike. Helen attended Omaha South High School before entering the nursing program at the University of Nebraska at Omaha.
On June 23, 1951, Helen married Edward V. May, and the couple made their home in Omaha until March of 1976 when they moved to Dickens. Their union was blessed with four children, Edward Michael, Susan Ann, Robert James and James Joseph; additionally, they were blessed to raise Helen's youngest brother, James E. Pike as though he was a son.
While Helen's loss brings great sadness to her friends and loved ones, we rejoice in her new life with the Lord. She will be remembered for her devotion to her faith, family, quick Irish wit and the humor and light that she brought to others. Helen loved to socialize and dance, and had an endearingly bright temperament that was a blessing to both her family, friends, and patients.
She was a longtime member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Wallace & Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church in Grant where she had been active in the Legion of Mary and Altar Society. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband; son, Robert; her parents and 4 sisters.
Survivors include her children, Edward Michael (Danã) May of Omaha, Susan Ann (Lloyd) Logsdon of Lake McConaughy, James Joseph (Mary) May of Wallace; brother, James E.
