Geraldine (Gerry) Peterson, 93 of Grant passed away Sunday, July 8, 2018, in Golden Ours Convalescent Home at Grant.
Gerry was born October 1, 1924, daughter of George C. and Dorothy (Moonau) Hahn, at Arapahoe, NE. She graduated from the Arapahoe High School with the class of 1942.
She moved to Oshkosh, Nebraska where she met Allen Peterson. They were married on December 22, 1946. Their union was blessed with two boys, Larry and Andrew. The family made their home at Lisco, NE, where they farmed with Allen's parents.
In 1954, the Peterson's moved to Lewellen, where they lived the next 61 years together. In 2015, Allen and Gerry moved to Westview in Grant to be closer to family.
Gerry worked hand-in-hand with Allen in their farming operation. She was treasurer of the Garden County Agriculture society and the Garden County Farm Bureau for several years. She was very active in the Lewellen Methodist Church where she served as secretary and chairwomen of the Administration Board; she also served as Treasurer, Secretary and Chairperson of the United Methodist Women.
Gerry was an avid reader and loved to play cards. Gerry also enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren; laughing, playing games, spoiling them and watching them do what they love.
Gerry was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of nearly 70 years, Allen; a son, Andrew; her brother, Raymond (Shorty); and a half-brother, Ralph Vopat.
Survivors include a son Larry (Janice) of Grant; grandchildren, Nancy (Kyle) Salsman of Lincoln and Michael Peterson of Sheridan Wy.; great-grandchildren, Carson and Caden Salsman of Lincoln and Greeli and Graysin Peterson of Sheridan Wy.; sister, Eleanor Fahnholz of California, and nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held Thursday, July 12, 2018 at 11:00am at the Lewellen Methodist Church with Rev. Janie Freeman officiating. Interment of cremains will be in the Ash Hollow Cemetery near Lewellen.
