Jim Lee

Gerald James "Jim" Lee, 91, of Elsie, NE, a patient, loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, passed into eternal life on June 26, 2023.

Jim was born on September 14, 1931, on a homestead south of Elsie, NE. He was one of six children born to George and Margaret Lee. He attended St. Patrick's Academy in Sidney, NE, graduating at the age of 16 in 1948, and went to work on the family farm.

On November 26, 1955, Jim married the love of his life, Dorie Kildare. They raised six children, teaching them that a strong work ethic and education were assets that, once attained, could never be taken away. With many sacrifices, they ensured all their children graduated from college.

Jim enjoyed visiting with family and friends and, of course, the occasional implement or feed salesman. He was an example of integrity, honesty, and fairness. His handshake was his word. Jim had an eye for livestock and a love of farming and was known for his stories, good advice, and love of God's creation. He treasured his family, faith, and community and was a devout member of the Resurrection of our Lord Catholic Church in Elsie.

Jim's strong bond with his wife Dorie was evidenced when they both died on June 26, Jim following exactly one year after her.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, four siblings, his grandsons, Thomas and Francis, granddaughter Sadie, and many other dear family members and friends.

Left to cherish his memory are his children, Pam Allison (Glenn), Pat (Deb), Teri Konzak (Duane), Joe (Kelly), Ric (Karen), Roxi Lee (Keith), 18 grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, brother Vince, sister-in-law, Janet, and many others.

Funeral Mass will be on Friday, June 30, 2023, at 10:00 am, with Rosary recited prior to Mass at Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church in Grant, with Fr. Thomas Bush and Fr. Bryan Ernest Concelebrating. Interment will be in the Grant Fairview Cemetery.

Visitation will be on Thursday, June 29, from 5 pm to 8 pm at the Bullock Long Funeral Home.
