Evelyn Lucille Gengenbach, 95, of Grant, passed away Monday, April 18, 2022, at Golden Ours Convalescent Home in Grant, NE.
Evelyn was born on April 11, 1927, to John and Caroline (Elsasser) Keuten on the family farm northwest of Grant. She was baptized at Zion Lutheran Church on May 28, 1927, and confirmed on June 1, 1941.
Evelyn attended grade school at District 50 Rural School and graduated from Perkins County High School with the class of 1944. Evelyn received teachers' training and taught at country schools in Perkins County for the next five years, even teaching her future sisters-in-law Rose and Anita.
Evelyn married Dan Gengenbach on September 24, 1950, at Zion Lutheran Church. The couple made their home five miles southeast of Grant, where they farmed and raised Hereford cattle. The couple enjoyed over 68 years together.
Evelyn was very active in Zion Lutheran Church, serving as organist for over 65 years, and was a member of Ladies Aid. She also belonged to the Texas Trail Extension Club.
Evelyn had a deep love for music, playing organ and piano for countless weddings, funerals, and other events. She also enjoyed gardening and flowers. She and Dan loved to travel together and took many trips. They thoroughly enjoyed the Keuten and Gengenbach nieces and nephews.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, husband Dan, brothers and sister-in-law Melvin Keuten and Marvin & Dorothy Keuten, father and mother-in-law Chris & Anna Gengenbach, in-laws Harold & Lottie Gengenbach, George & Wilma & Beatrice Gengenbach, Lillian & Wayne Logsdon, Arlene & Eugene Kurkowski, Jack Barry, and Dean Russell, nephew John Logsdon, and great-nephew Joseph Ficken.
Survivors include in-laws Eleanor Russell of North Platte, Rose Barry of Grant, Anita & Don Most of Ogallala, dear friends Kent & Julie Wedel, 26 nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be on Sunday, April 24, 2022, from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Bullock-Long Funeral Home in Grant.
The funeral service will be on Monday, April 25, 2022, at 10:30 am at Zion Lutheran Church in Grant, with Pastor Michael Heckmann officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Grant.
