Edyth L. Lehmkuhl, 84, of Wallace, NE, passed away Wednesday, August 9, 2023, at Centennial Park in North Platte, NE.
Edyth was born January 15, 1939, in Brady, NE, to Edwin and Ruby (Houser) Larson. She graduated from Maxwell High School. On June 4, 1959, she married Lloyd E. Lehmkuhl. The couple briefly lived in North Platte before returning to their beloved Wallace, where they raised their three daughters and became integral parts of the community.
Passionate about beautifying Wallace, Edyth took immense pride in tending to the flower beds on Main Street. She was a fervent gardener, with her own yard serving as a testament. Edyth had three ponds that she cared for and maintained. Apart from her prowess with plants, Edyth had a soft spot for chickens. She raised them not just for her family but for half the town, which was an endeavor that frequently involved her children's participation.
Edyth's commitment to Wallace was evident in her role as an EMT. Not only had she served in that capacity, but she also played a part in initiating the program in Wallace.
Edyth was a steady and loving presence in her family. She was a matriarch and will be sorely missed.
Edyth was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd E. Lehmkuhl, and her parents.
