Donna Mae Bishop was born on February 5, 1929 northwest of Grant Nebraska. She was the oldest of two children born to Walter and Ethel Whips Brown. Donna attended rural school District #73 north of Grant until her 8th grade year when she attended school in Grant. She graduated from Perkins County High School in 1946.
Donna was married to Robert Bishop on December 27, 1946 in Denver. Five children were born to this union. They maintained their farm home northwest of Grant until 1966 when they moved into town. In addition to raising her family, Donna sold Avon products for several years. Bob died in 2008 and Donna continued to maintain her home until October of 2010 when she moved to Westview Retirement. Donna enjoyed her time at Westview and always enjoyed a card game. She was playing cards with her family the night of Memorial Day when she suffered a stroke. She was eventually transferred to Omaha and then to South Lake Village in Lincoln where she died on Wednesday afternoon, June 3rd, 2015. She had reached the age of 86.
Donna always enjoyed her heritage and especially attending the Brown reunions. She enjoyed traveling with Bob and later her cousin, Maggie. Donna was a good homemaker and cook and always did her best to provide for her children and grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Donna was preceded in death by her brother, Bob Brown.
She is survived by 4 sons- Jim (Carol) of Lincoln, Gaylord (Genie) of Grant, Russell (Claire) of Ogallala, and Lloyd (Tricia) of Indianapolis; 1 daughter- Suzan (Calvin) McCormick of Cozad; 9 Bishop grandsons-Bret (Cheryl), Jayson (Deanne), Aaron (Jessica), Daniel (Dana), David (Tricia), Kevin, Carl, Andrew, and Ryan (Leah); 6 granddaughters- Katie (Nathan) Dutzmann, Amy (Adam) Hodgdon, Sarah (Ryan) Flaming, Jenny Bishop, Nichole (Casey) Teter, and Rachelle McCormick; 12 great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
