Clinton Schmidt

CLINTON L. SCHMIDT, 84, of Grant, NE, passed away Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at Great Plains Heath in North Platte, NE.

Clinton was born May 12, 1940, in Copeland, Kansas, to Wallace and Bertha (Yost) Schmidt.

On October 16, 1960, Clinton married Twylah L. Koehn. The couple moved to Grant in February 1974, where Clinton farmed. Their union was blessed with three children: Marlin, David, and Jerry.

Following Twylah's passing, Clinton married Mildred (Ensz) Goertzen Friesen on October 23, 2011, and the couple enjoyed several years together before her death in December 2018.

Clinton was preceded in death by his parents; two wives, Twylah and Mildred; siblings, Merle D. Schmidt and Vera Withers.

Survivors include his children, Marlin (Bonnie) Schmidt of Grant, David (Twila) Schmidt of Ronan, MT, and Jerry (Minnie) Schmidt of Madrid; step-children, Yolanda Friesen of Madrid, Sherry (Denton) Mastre of Grant, Barbara (Keith) Becker of Leesburg, OH, Danny (Barb) Goertzen, Wendel (Krista) Goertzen, all of Madrid; 13 grandchildren; 24 step-grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 44 step-great-grandchildren, sisters, JoAnn Schmidt of Montezuma, KS; Phyllis Bissell of Woodburn, OR; and many other relatives and friends.

A memorial has been established in Clinton's memory for later designation. Condolences may be shared at bullocklongfuneralhome.com.

Services will be on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at 10:30 a.m., at the Church of God in Christ Mennonite Church west of Madrid. Burial will be in the Madrid Cemetery.

Visitation will be on Friday, from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m., at the Bullock-Long Funeral Home in Grant.
