Carl Wesley White

A private graveside service for the burial of the cremains of Carl Wesley White was held at the Grant Fairview Cemetery in the afternoon of Sunday, June 26, 2016. Carl was born to Arlene and Walter White on October 4, 1939 in Fremont, NE. The family of three moved to Grant when Carl was in the third grade. He married Barbara Colglazier, also of Grant, in 1963. Graduation in 1964 from the University of Nebraska Medical School, Omaha, was followed by an internship in Portland, OR and two years as a medical officer at Hanscom Field Air Force Base outside Boston, MA. He and Barbara lived in Iowa City, IA from December of 1967 until August of 1986. During this time he completed an internal medicine residency, a fellowship in cardiology, and joined the cardiology faculty, earning full professorship. Their three children were born at the University Hospital. In 1986 the family moved to Bloomington, MN, where Carl joined the Cardiology Division of the University of Minnesota Medical School. He retired in 2006 as Alzheimer's Disease took over his life. He died October 22, 2014. His body entered the University of Minnesota Anatomy Bequest Program and contributed to research involving small pacemakers.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, daughters Laurie Petruconis of Minneapolis and Cynthia White of Naples, son Bryan White of Seattle, their spouses, eight grandchildren, and an extended family of Colglazier relatives whom he considered his own.

John Long of Bullock-Long Funeral Home officiated at the graveside service.
