Betty Jo Leonard of Elsie, Nebraska, passed away peacefully on February 7, 2022, at the home of her son, Michael Leonard, in Alliance, Nebraska. She was 85 at the time of her death.
Mrs. Leonard, daughter of George and Sylvia Huntley, was born December 15, 1936, in Arnold, Nebraska, and graduated from Brule High School. She married Richard (Dick) James Leonard in Ogallala, Nebraska, in November 1954. Early in their marriage, Betty Jo and Dick resided in a series of places in Nebraska and Colorado before permanently settling in Elsie in the mid-1960s, where together, they managed a farming/ranching operation and later the grain elevator and a seed sales business.
Betty is survived by a brother, Bill Huntley of Ogallala. She is remembered and honored by her six children, Mike (Carol) of Alliance, Mark (Sherree) of Bayard, Rick (Denise) of Lincoln, Bill (Rosa) of Phoenix, AZ, Patty (Tom) of Great Falls, MT, and Susie of Phoenix, AZ; she also enjoyed the years she spent as grandmother to her many grandchildren.
We remember fondly a strong woman who took great pride and care in her role as a wife and mother and who enjoyed the people and life of the community of Elsie. We ask our Lord Jesus Christ to welcome Betty Jo into the Kingdom of Heaven.
A memorial has been established in Betty Jo's memory for later designation. Condolences may be shared at bullocklongfuneralhome.com.
